Jack Cassidy is hoping having key signings Lewis Ferrell and James Hall back in the saddle will help turn St Ives Town’s season around.
Former Brentford full back Ferrell – who has played at a higher level for the likes of Hampton & Richmond Borough, Staines Town, Farnborough and Hayes & Yeading – joined in the summer but picked up an injury just a handful of games in.
Striker Hall, meanwhile, returned to the club in the summer after two goal-filled years away with Cambridge City, St Neots and Kettering Town, but has also been sidelined through injury and personal commitments.
Both made their comeback in last Tuesday’s Hunts Senior Cup win over Huntingdon Town, and then helped the Saints beat Dunstable Town 2-1 in Saturday’s Southern Premier relegation six-pointer.
“Liam McDevitt was a big loss for us in the summer, and when we were looking to fill the void we came across Lewis, who had been out for a year,” said assistant manager Cassidy.
“It was a real blow to then lose him to injury, but if we can keep him fit, his experience speaks for itself, and it was great that he came through 90 minutes.
“Likewise James, who’s had a stop-start return as his missus was due to give birth, and once that was all over he pulled his hamstring. But his commitment levels never faltered, and hopefully he can get a clean run of games now.”
