Former Lincoln City skipper Dean Walling says Matt Rhead is not being disloyal by handing in a transfer request, he is just looking out for himself and his family. It wasn’t a surprise to hear that Matt Rhead had handed in a transfer request. Apparently he’s been offered a significant pay-rise. Money talks sometimes and it’s not as if he hasn’t given Lincoln a good season. In fact he’s just had the best season of his career. He’s 31 and in the twilight of his career, so you can understand his thinking.

Clubs are quick to sell or release players if it’s right for them. And Matt will have a wife, kids and a mortgage to pay for and sometimes you have to be a little bit selfish and look at the bigger picture. As I say, he’s just had a fantastic season for Lincoln and won’t be thinking that he’s leaving the club in the lurch. He gave them a good season and scored more than 20 goals. Read more:
