Hall Road Rangers have announced the shock departure of manager David Ricardo, just 24 hours after their Buildbase FA Vase win over Gedling Miners Welfare.
In a statement, chairman Darren Sunley said: “Dave Ricardo is no longer manager with immediate effect.
“Dave has done an amazing job last season and done well so far this year but, unfortunately, the relationship and respect between myself and Dave, in my view, has broken down beyond repair.”
The surprising move comes as the Rangers chairman claims that agreements made in pre-season about playing budgets and payments in order to the manage the expectations of the club following its promotion into the Premier Division had, in his view, “clearly not been adhered to.”
Mr Sunley added, however: “I do wish him all the best and, as a club, he will always be welcome.
“It’s been a very hard decision that many will find strange but my priority is the sustainability of the whole club.”
Bill Gill will be stepping in to take temporary control pending further discussions and his first game in charge will be the trip to Maltby Main next Saturday in the NCEL Premier Division with Rangers currently sitting in fourteenth after only playing six games.
