A ‘big coup’ is how Wrexham board member Spencer Harris described the appointment of Sam Ricketts as the Dragons’ new manager.
Ricketts was unveiled as the Dragons chief on Wednesday as the club look to build for an 11th season in exile from the Football League. And Harris believes that the club have landed the right man, adding he felt the former Wales international was an ‘exceptional leader’ and has the right ‘values that will fit with Wrexham AFC’.
Speaking at Ricketts’ unveiling, Harris said: “We’d like to officially welcome Sam to Wrexham Football Club, we are absolutely over the moon and delighted that we’ve secured Sam.
“When a job like Wrexham AFC comes up it creates a lot of interest in the football world and we had numerous applicants. In addition to that we also drew up a list of people who we would be interested in speaking to through the grapevine, (from the) intelligence that we were able to gather about the best up and coming managers who might be out there and that is the bracket that Sam fitted into.”
