Wrexham ran out 2-1 winners on Friday night at Lex XI, Chris Holroyd and trialist Michael Elstone on target either side of an excellent reply from Matty Williams.
The match, played in sweltering heat, was reduced to two 30-minute halves with a drinks break in each half.

“It was good, (but) listen we have only been in five days, so it was too early for a full on game which is why we reduced the time and the lads just played two 15 minute blocks really,” said Ricketts.
“It is about our progression for the fitness and building up to the first game of the season. It was a really good work out, I think everyone enjoyed it which is the most important thing, no injuries and we won the game as well which is always nice.
“Five days in, what can you do in the first five days, bearing in mind you are trying to build fitness and try to implement a few little ideas.”
