Sam Ricketts insists he is not interested in ‘making a statement’ to Wrexham ’s National League rivals, but believes there is still so much more to come from his side, report The Daily Post.

Wrexham wrapped up a near perfect opening week to the campaign with a 3-0 win over Boreham Wood at the Racecourse , victory in Saturday’s early lunchtime kick off sending them to the top of the table, even if only temporarily.

Two wins and a draw, secured with three clean sheets, sees Wrexham sit fifth in the embryonic standings heading into Tuesday’s clash at York Road against Maidenhead United.

Goals from Jordan Maguire-Drew, Rekeil Pyke and Mike Fondop ensured Saturday’s victory in front of the BT Sport cameras against the Wood, but Wrexham still needed a strong defensive showing against a side who reached the play-off final last season.

“I am satisfied because we have won the game, I am not purring over our performance,” said the Dragons boss.

“It was tight and eventually our quality in the final third came through and scored us three goals, and our quality in the defensive third as well.”
