South Shields have confirmed that defender Ben Riding has left Mariners Park.
During discussions, Ben expressed his desire to secure more regular first-team football, and felt this would be most likely achieved away from South Shields.
He leaves on amicable terms, and everyone at the club would like to wish him all the very best for the future.
Ben said: “After a couple of weeks thinking about my future, I’ve decided to leave South Shields.
“I’ve had a great couple of seasons at the club, but I feel the time is right to move on.
“I’d like to wish everyone involved good luck for the rest of the season, and to also say thanks to all the fans, who provide great support both home and away.”
This was the 27-year-old’s third spell at Mariners Park, having most recently rejoined the club from Bishop Auckland in January 2015.
He departs with a record of 133 appearances and 19 goals for Shields, and having been a key part of last season’s Northern League Division Two title-winning squad.
