North Shields striker Jack Devlin has completed a move to EBAC Northern League rivals Newcastle Benfield.

The young forward spent time with Scottish club Queen of the South earlier in his career, before returning to the North East for a spell with Northern League Division Two club Easington Colliery.

He was taken to North Shields by former Robins manager Graham Fenton in late March 2016 and caught the eye with a number of spectacular goals.

This season Devlin has found his game time limited and has taken the decision to move to Newcastle Benfield.

At Sam Smith’s Park he will be able to learn from one of the most prolific strikers in non-league football over the past fifteen years in Benfield joint-manager Paul Brayson.

The former Northwich Victoria and Blyth Spartans player is still a regular goalscorer with the club and leads the Northern League Division One scoring charts with nineteen goals so far this campaign.

Devlin could make his Benfield debut in Saturday’s Northern League game at Penrith.
