Lewes manager Darren Freeman has today mutually agreed to cancel the registration of forward James Fraser and has sanctioned the immediate transfer to fellow Sussex club Burgess Hill Town.
The 26-year-old former Bristol Rovers player has featured 11 times this season, scoring once – the vital late equaliser against Leiston in December – but missed pre-season and a large chuck of the early part of the season due to an injury picked up in the Brighton and Hove Albion friendly.
Freeman commented that “it’s best for both ourselves as a club and for JJ (Fraser) as a player. We’ve known and worked with JJ for a long time now so it’s all very amicable and the move to Burgess Hill Town could be the thing that gets the spark back for him.
It also creates an opportunity for some of the current squad to step up and it might give us an opportunity to bring in a new face, if the right player becomes available”.
In other squad news, defender Chris Breach, who has been missing from recent matchday squads, has taken a break from football and won’t be involved with the first team squad for the time being.
Josh Jones’ work mean he is still currently unable to commit to regular training while Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe, who initially returned home due to family commitments, is now trialling at a professional club in Turkey.
Yasin Ben El-Mhanni, who had recent trials at West Brom and Crystal Palace, is back with the first team squad but is currently recovering from injury.
