Forest Green Rovers Academy pair Tom Anderson and Jordan Stevens helped England Colleges to the Anglo-Shield title last Wednesday at South Gloucestershire & Stroud College’s WISE Campus.
A last minute equaliser in a 2-2 draw was enough to see England earn a 3-2 aggregate win over their Welsh counterparts.
Second year Anderson, who has also recently been away with the Three Lions squad at the Roma Caput Mundi tournament in Italy, started in the game.
Meanwhile first year Stevens was introduced as a substitute and made a big impact coming off the bench.
Head of Youth Scott Bartlett was at the match to watch two of his young starlets and was pleased to see both of them have a major influence.
Bartlett said: “They both did well. Tommy has been with the group a little while longer because of the time he spent with them in Italy and for Jordan it was his first game.
“Jordan had a really positive impact on the game and we knew he would because he’s a good player.
“We’ve now had five players through the Academy set-up represent England which is great because out of all the college teams that are represented, we’ve got the smallest campus by a long shot at SGS College in Stroud.”
The other FGR Academy players to represent England Colleges include graduates Aden Baldwin and Niall Morgan, as well as current second year forward Giancarlo Gabbiadini.
