Micky Mellon was left frustrated after Tranmere Rovers’ 2-1 defeat in the fourth qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup at Barrow.
The manager was hoping to build on the momentum gained by the 2-0 win over Wrexham in his first game in charge but a second half strike by Paul Turnbull meant it is Barrow that progress into the first round proper.
Mellon told Tranmere PlayerHD: “We’re disappointed to be out of the cup and for the travelling fans who were here today and we know the things we have to work hard on going forward.
“What we’re disappointed with from today is when we good possession of the ball, we have to be better with it.
“We’ve got to show a bit more quality in order to build anything and create chances in the final third.
“We know we have to improve and where we have to improve and we’ll be working hard to do that.
“The players all work hard but it’s about working smartly and having the quality when we get the ball that we have to get them better at.”
