Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon was pleased with his team’s performance in the 1-0 home defeat to Forest Green Rovers.
Rovers pinned back their opposition for large parts of the game but were unable to get the decisive goal, and were made to pay when Kaiyne Woolery notched an 85th minute winner for the visitors.
The manager told Tranmere Player HD: “Over the course of the 90 minutes, it’s probably the best performance of the season which is strange for me to say after a defeat.
“At the end of the day, you’ve got to put the ball in the net. When the chances come, you have to take them and I can say Forest Green had one chance and scored but that’s the object of the game.
“In these tight games, when you create the clear cut chances like we did, you must take them and it’s as simple as that.
“The whole evening was a fantastic event, the fans got right behind us, we played some brilliant football, we dominated but didn’t score the goals you need to win games of football.”
