Tranmere Rovers defender Matt Hill says he is relishing the pressure of challenging for a place in the play-offs ahead of a crucial match at home to Lincoln City.

He said: “I think I’d rather be at the top trying to push for the promotion than fight relegation and have the pressure that way. It’s a nice pressure to have. It’s a pressure we are relishing.

“We are giving our all when the games are coming and I believe the fans can see how hard we are pushing and trying to create these chances, create goals, create opportunities.”

The veteran defender is adamant that the side have the quality to challenge for a play-off spot.

“We know that we’ve got the players, we know we’ve got the quality. If we can put that together in these last remaining games, I think we have every chance of being in the play-offs and hopefully be successful.

“They are must win games, I think it’s pure and simple now. We are running out of games so it’s important that we pick up wins. At home we could be a lot better in terms of picking up wins so I think it’s vitally important that we are all together.”

Hill also praised the fans who have been behind the team all season and wants to reward them with good performances.

He added: “The fans have been fantastic but we need to put a good performance on to give the fans that encouragement to be right behind us to get that momentum and win some games.”
