Tranmere Rovers defender Michael Ihiekwe has today agreed a two-year deal with Rotherham United.
The centre back was out of contract at Prenton Park this summer following three seasons with Rovers and though the Club offered him a new deal, he opted to join Rotherham who will be in Sky Bet League One next season.
Manager Micky Mellon said: “Michael has had a good season for us so I’m not surprised he has had the opportunity to move up the divisions.
“This wasn’t unexpected so we have already been speaking to a number of players for potential replacements.
“We’re always happy to develop players who move upwards from us as that’s a great credit to the Club and people who are here, as it shows we’ve improved them.
“We thank Michael for his contribution to us improving as a football club as well and wish him the best of luck at Rotherham.”
