The Tranmere Rovers` first-team squad has donated 100 season tickets to the club’s #SWA2 fund for the 2016/17 season.
The players have made the contribution for the second season in a row, enabling more under privileged children and adults to watch live football at Prenton Park.
The donation took the total raised above the £10,000 mark for the season, with funds also being contributed by the Tranmere Rovers Trust, season ticket holders, supporters and local businesses over the summer.
Chairman Mark Palios said: “The players’ contribution underlines how much of a family club Tranmere Rovers is.
“The squad were keen to play their part once again and their donation will allow hundreds more disadvantaged children and adults to come to our matches.
“We’ve had fantastic feedback from those coming to games, carers and the organisations involved who all say that the opportunity to attend live football matches is making a big positive difference to the lives of those concerned.
“Last season we raised just over £10,000 for the fund. This season we’re hoping we can reach £20,000 which will enable as many as 5,000 people to come to matches throughout 2016-17 who would otherwise not be able to.”
In 2015/16 twenty local organisations helped distribute more than 2,500 #SWA2 tickets for matches, allowing youngsters to spend quality time with the family, friends and carers in a safe and exciting environment.
Club captain Steven Jennings added: “It was great that we could be a part of something so beneficial to the local community last season and it was something as a group we wanted to do again.
“The Trust have contributed, the fans have contributed, businesses have contributed, so it makes sense that we should do our bit again too”.
