Jeff Hughes says the squad are looking forward to the top of the table encounter on Saturday as league leaders Tranmere Rovers travel to Lincoln City who are currently second.

Tranmere are unbeaten in the league under Micky Mellon with eight wins and two draws and Hughes says that spirits are high in the camp.

He told Tranmere PlayerHD: “There’s a really good feeling around the place. We maybe haven’t played as well in the last couple of games as we have been but we have shown what we can do and now it’s about trying to keep that up and staying top of the league.

“It’s nice to be top of the league at the moment but we know that things can change very quickly.

“There’s a long way to go, it’s about maintaining our form through a full season and not just half.”

Looking ahead to the big game at the weekend, Hughes says that they could put a real marker down with a positive result on Saturday.

He added: “It’s important to beat the teams that are in and around you because if you do that then you’ve got a real chance.”
