Manager James Rowe was delighted to see Chesterfield’s plan come off in Tuesday’s win over Aldershot Town.
The Spireites were 1-0 winners at the Shots, with left-back Alex Whittle coming up with the decisive effort in the first half.
Speaking of their plan to exploit space in wide areas, Rowe told the club’s website:
“We have been working on that in the last couple of days.
“We knew with their diamond, they don’t track the wing-backs, and they narrow off as a back four when deliveries come in.
“We knew that we would get chances. George (Carline) had a couple of chances as well at the back stick.
“It’s something that we have worked on and I’m delighted for Alex to get the winning goal.”
