Runcorn Town manager Chris Herbert has signalled his intentions with the capture of Ashton Athletic frontman Isaac Kusaloka.
Isaac has been on fire this season, scoring 26 goals already in a season which he helped fire Ashton to the Second Qualifying Round of the FA Cup. He is also the reason we are out of the Macron Cup, with his two goals putting Ashton into the Quarter Finals at the end of last month!
He started his careeer at Kendal Town in the EvoStik League where game time was limited for the then 17-year old striker. At the start of the 2009/10 season, he joined Squires Gate and was an instant hit, scoring 12 goals before December. It was this form that led to AFC Fylde coming in for him, and he helped Flyde U18’s win the Lancashire Floodlit League in his first season, before moving back to Gate for the 2011/2012 season on loan.
With Flyde progressing rapidly up the leagues, Kusaloka left Flyde in January 2013, signing for Clitheroe, before spending the whole of the 2013/14 season at Evostik League side Prescot Cables. The following season he moved back to his first club Kendal Town, before signing for Ashton Athletic in January 2015.
Impressive performances led to Skelmersale United coming in for him at the start of last season, but he returned to Ashton midway through the year. And he has kicked on once again this season with seven man of the match awards to add to his 26 goals.
Chris Herbert was delighted with the capture, stating “We are delighted to have Isaac join us. In my opinion we have three of the best strikers in the league in Si Thelwell, Craig Cairns and now Isaac.
“We felt we needed to add goals from elsewhere and he guarantees us goals, and with his pace he is probably the quickest striker in the division. So he adds something else to us as well as goals.
“In Ashton’s two games against us he has been the stand out player, so much so that even a few of our own players wanted us to look at getting him here, which shows how much we wanted him at the club all round. Supporters have also said the same so I am sure they will be delighted.
“It’s a big second half of the season coming up and we feel we are geared up to push on now. With Dave Forbes moving to City of Liverpool, we needed to bring an extra attacker in, and I am delighted to get Isaac. We are always looking to improve, and this signing certainly does that”.
