St Neots Town manager Matt Clements has secured the services of three more experienced players for the coming campaign with Luke Knight, Scott Sinclair and Danny Watson all agreeing terms.
The three players join from Evostik Southern League Division One Central side Barton Rovers, having narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier Division, suffering play-off final heartbreak against Farnborough FC.
Centre Midfielder Luke Knight will of course be a familiar name to Saints fans, having been a regular in the First Team under Marvin Johnson back in our United Counties League days and the scorer of a memorable volley against Desborough Town from near the half way line. Luke began his career at Bedford Town, coming through the youth ranks before joining the Saints and subsequent management changes saw Luke move on to have successful spells with Slough Town, Biggleswade Town, St Ives Town, Bedford Town and most recently Barton Rovers.
A talented, ball winning midfielder with an eye for goal, Luke will bring bags of experience.
Scott Sinclair, a versatile player, predominantly a winger, can play up top, in the middle of the park and even at right back, bringing Step 3 experience with him, having played for near neighbours St Ives Town for 3 years before leaving for Barton Rovers in early 2017, where he chipped in with three goals in ten appearances. Scott was part of St Ives Town’s promotion winning side which defeated AFC Rushden and Diamonds in the play-off final last May Bank Holiday.
Striker Danny Watson brings an eye for a goal to the Saints. He also numbers neighbours St Ives Town among his former clubs, along with Kempston Rovers, Leighton Town and of course, Barton Rovers, where he scored three times in ten appearances last season. Danny was capped at England Schoolboys level and scored whilst playing at Wembley.
