Salford City have won promotion to the EFL after a 3-0 victory over AFC Fylde in the Vanarama National League play-off final today.
Emmanuel Dieseruvwe, Carl Piergianni and Ibou Touray got the goals for Graham Alexander’s Ammies, who join Leyton Orient in next season’s League Two. Dave Challinor’s Fylde are back at Wembley next Sunday for the Buildbase FA Trophy final.
It is a second successive promotion for Salford City, following the National League North title win last season under Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley. Johnson and Morley, now in charge at Chester, had also delivered promotion in 2015 and 2016.
In the 2007/08 season, the club were playing in the North West Counties Football League Division One, gaining promotion as runners-up to Trafford.
