Salford City have confirmed the signing of Aberdeen striker Adam Rooney on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old Irishman had been strongly rumoured to be the Ammies’ next signing, as they look to bounce straight into the EFL in manager Graham Alexander’s first season in charge. As they embark upon their first campaign in the Vanarama National League they will now be able to call upon a striker in Rooney who has scored almost a century of goals since joining Aberdeen in January 2014.

The Dubliner made his start in the professional game at Stoke City, before spending time with the likes of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Birmingham City.
