Salford City have continued their summer signings with the capture of forward Ashley Hemmings from Boston United.
The 27-year-old former Wolverhampton Wanderers youngster had been considered by many to be playing below his level by being in the National League North, but he now joins a side with well-documented EFL ambitions. Ammies boss Graham Alexander moved to sign the former Walsall and Dagenham & Redbridge man after a season with the Pilgrims in which he scored 16 goals in 46 games, having signed last summer.
Hemmings expressed his excitement at the move up into the Vanarama National League via Twitter:
‘Absolutely buzzing to be on board @SalfordCityFC , a great club with big ambitions, can’t wait to meet everyone & get going. #UTA’
He also thanked his former club for the past season:
‘I’d like to thank all the staff, players and fans at @bostonunited Thank you for the support all season. Boston will always be special to me from the love I felt from you all, I hope and wish nothing but success for the future for the club and you all.
Thank you very much.’
