Scarborough Athletic FC have announced the signing of striker James Walshaw from Farsley Celtic.
The 33-year-old joins Boro as the current leader in the scoring charts for the Evo-Stik Premier, with 20 league goals for Farsley so far this season.
Walshaw also picked up the Golden Boot for the Evo-Stik North last season with 32 goals to secure promotion for the Celts via the play-offs.
Walshaw has previously played with Darlington in the Football League, as well as spells with Guiseley, Halifax Town, Harrogate Town, and Shaw Lane prior to his move to Throstle Nest in June 2016.
Trevor Bull, Chairman of Scarborough Athletic said:
“We are delighted to have secured the services of a proven striker who has an excellent goal scoring record at this level and in the leagues above.
“Like the recent signing of James Knowles, this signing is the result of a calculated and careful team building process that started with the manager identifying targets that would improve our squad in key positions.
“Following our success in the FA Cup this season, the directors took the decision to invest some of the proceeds to ensure that we have a squad capable of pushing on for promotion and challenging at the top of the division for the remainder of the season.
“We will continue to work closely with Steve Kittrick to achieve our goals on the pitch whilst pushing forward with our plans to improve facilities for our loyal supporters at the Flamingo Land Stadium.
“We want to welcome James to our club and our community. He has expressed his desire to be part of what we are trying to achieve by doing what he does best, scoring goals. We look forward to sharing many celebrations with him and our fans.”
