Scarborough Athletic manager Steve Kittrick has added two new players to his squad.
The first new signing is Tom McNamee, who can play at centre-half or right-back. The defender was the Sunderland Under-21s captain last season, before being released by The Black Cats at the end of the campaign. Tom went on to spend some time at Blyth Spartans at the start of this season, recently gaining some match practice at Newcastle Benfield before joining the club this week.
Boro manager Steve Kittrick said: “Tom was captain of Sunderland Under-21s last season and will add some competition for places in our defence.”
Also arriving is goalkeeper Nicky Draper on a one-month loan from National League North side Alfreton Town.
The 22-year-old joined the Reds in July 2015 from Grimsby Town, where he was back-up to Mariners keeper James McKeown. Draper has also had spells at Lincoln City and Boston United, plus a stint in Scotland with Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Kittrick said: “Nicky was back-up at Grimsby last season and will bring his experience from a higher level to help us over the next few weeks.”
Meanwhile midfielder Alex Metcalfe is set to leave the club.
He has made 35 starts and 8 sub appearances since joining Boro in January 2015, scoring 9 goals.
Alex made his first Boro appearance last season as a substitute against Ossett Albion, before making his full debut against Warrington Town at Queensgate on 17 January 2015.
