Scarborough Athletic chairman Trevor Bull has said that ensuring the club remains in existence takes precedence over continuing the current season.

Bull was speaking in response to the decision to null and void the game at Step 2 for 2020/21, with a final decision yet to be communicated on Scarborough’s Northern Premier Division campaign.

He told the club’s website: “We ourselves have been determined from the outset of this current crisis to put the safety of our community and longevity of our club front and centre of every decision we have had to make.

“When the time came for us to give our opinion to the league on the season, much as we all love our football, we had to say that the season needed to end.

“It was clear that our priority was to ensure we had a club to watch when this is all over.”
