FC Halifax Town manager Billy Heath boosted his squad ahead of the weekend’s away match at Aldershot with the signing of experienced 31-year-old Michael Collins until the end of the 2018/19 season.

Collins, who was born in Halifax, started his career with local neighbours Huddersfield Town, making 173 league appearances and scoring 19 goals between 2004 and 2010.

He moved to Scunthorpe in 2014, making 79 league appearances, and during his time with Glanford Park he had a loan spell with AFC Wimbledon.

The 6ft midfielder has also played for Oxford United, had a loan spell with York City and joined India’s Bengaluru in 2016 and his last team was Leyton Orient.
