With FC Halifax Town’s all important final league game of the season, at home to Macclesfield Town looming, Jim Harvey gave his thoughts ahead of the game.

With what it sure to be a massive game for The Shaymen, Harvey explained how he feels that Town have the advantage, playing their final league game at home.

“It’s all in front of us now. We’re at home and it’s in our hands. We’ve got our own support. Hopefully the Town will come out now and encourage the boys to put a performance in. That’s all we can ask for,”fcht

When Harvey took over at the club, it looked as though the side was destined for the drop. However, now they have a very realistic chance of survival and Harvey said it is all down to the efforts of the players.

“When I took over here, you’d think it was dead and buried. The boys have put an absolutely enormous effort in to this and all the credit goes to those boys. As I’ve said, sometimes if the football is questionable, or the decision making, the character in the team is not. At home, I know they are going to go 90 minutes in this game next week. That’s all I wanted was to have them get that opportunity and have it in our hands and it is now so we’re delighted with that.”

Asked about his pre-match preparations for the game, Harvey said: “We’ll have a look at training. We’ll be training twice this week. We’ll have a break, take it easy and work on one or two things then we’ll all pick it up again ready for Saturday.”

The only negative coming into the game after such a massive win at Forest Green is the possibility of missing some key players. Harvey spoke about potential injury problems.

“Peni [Richard Peniket] got a little bang in the face so he was concussed so he had to go to hospital and check that one out. We’ll see how he is after that… His [Hamza Bencherif’s] groin wasn’t quite right. It was okay but obviously not good enough to get through. We’ll just have to see how that one settles down. Only one to go and Browny, [Matty Brown] with a bit of luck, could be back next week so we’ll wait and see.”
