John Sheridan remains unbeaten and yet to concede a goal in the league after Chesterfield’s 1-0 away victory at AFC Fylde last weekend.

During Thursday’s pre-match press conference, the Spireites boss acknowledged the importance of keeping clean sheets in order to continue their good form.

“We’ve got to stay focused. Luckily for us, we’re getting in an advantage where we know if we keep a clean sheet we win the game,” he said.

“We’ve defended when we’ve had to defend. It’s something I’m trying to get out of them.

“When we are in the lead, I’d like to see games out easier and do things a bit better instead of making wrong decisions and making ourselves vulnerable.

“They’re giving me what I’m asking from them.

“Four clean sheets have enabled us to get the points we are after. 1-0 is as good as 3-0 when we’re defending as a team, it’s not just the goalkeeper and defenders, it’s us as a team.

“I like our strikers to work hard up top too. I applaud them all and hopefully, it continues.”
