Aldershot lost 3-1 at lowly at Barrow on Saturday, when three points could have propelled them back up into the top three. Boss Gary Waddock isn’t getting too concerned, however, with no one able to put a run of form together to pull away at the top of the National League.

“I think it’s a lack of consistency, injuries, and you don’t finish the season come the end of October into the beginning of November, said Waddock, speaking to Get Surrey.

“There will be a lot of twists and turns, there will be good performances, indifferent ones and bad performances.

“So we never get carried away when things are going well or get too disappointed when we lose, but it was a poor performance on Saturday, it’s as simple as that.

“You can win two or you can lose two quickly, to be close to the top of the table or be closer to the bottom of the table.”
