Chesterfield manager James Rowe feels last night’s victory and clean sheet at Aldershot Town encapsulates the progress they have made in recent months.
The 1-0 win lifts the Spireites up to 10th in the National League, two points off the play-offs and with games in hand on every team above them but Notts County.
Rowe told Chesterfield’s website: “I’m delighted with the clean sheet. To minimise them to six or seven shots in the whole game is impressive.
“We completely controlled the first half. Second half, away from home, midweek, you know what’s coming, and we defended resolutely.
“There was the little clever header from Haydn [Hollis]. He knew it as soon as he did, fortunately.
“We got away with that one; I don’t want to focus on that little bit. Other than that, we’ve come a long way.
“Coming to places like this, keeping a clean sheet and really winning comfortably.”
