The Leader report that Wrexham manager Sam Ricketts says there has been no approach from Shrewsbury Town regarding the vacant manager’s position at the League One club.

Wrexham have mounted a strong promotion bid from the Vanarama National League in Ricketts’ debut season, with the North Wales side currently in third place, four points back from leaders Leyton Orient. Last season, the club saw boss Dean Keates leave his role to take over at Walsall, also in League One, and Wrexham would later miss out on the play-offs.

Former Wales international Ricketts insists there is nothing to discuss on his link to the Shrews vacancy.

“Nothing has changed,” Ricketts told The Leader. “I don’t even look at stuff like that because it is irrelevant to me, it is nothing to do with me.”

“No-one has made an approach. It is simple football, unless someone makes an approach or someone does anything then categorically there is not even a question to answer.”
