Shrivenham announce they have appointed the management team which gained promotion for Fairford Town last season.
Following the announcement yesterday afternoon that Michael McNally and Mark Stevens had both departed the club following a period of stagnation, the club has turned to Gareth Davies to take charge at Barrington Park.
“I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to attract a manager with such experience to the club,” Chairman Matt Hirst said on the new appointment. “Gareth spent three years at Fairford Town and led them to last season’s Hellenic League 1 West Championship before he stepped down and he’s the sort of manager that will professionalise what we do on the pitch and take us to the next level.
“I’ve said it before that we’re making massive strides off the pitch, but on the pitch is an even more important area to get things right and with what Gareth will bring to the club, it gives us every opportunity to push in the right direction.”
Joining Davies as part of his management team are his former assistant managers Chris Robinson and Ady Roper, both of whom will take up their familiar positions and the three new faces will be reunited with our current goalkeeper, Mike Alexander to complete the quartet who steered Fairford Town to success.
The new boss takes charge of First Team affairs from today and will meet with the players ahead of training on Wednesday evening at our Watchfield training facility. The new management team face their opening challenge this coming Saturday when the club travel to Reading YMCA for a First Round Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy tie.
