Macclesfield Town manager John Askey is delighted to have midfielder Danny Whitehead back at the club following his loan move from Wigan Athletic.
Danny left the club at the end of the left season to join the newly promoted Championship side, however he struggled for minutes and was shipped out to Cheltenham Town.
With his spell at Cheltenham ending, Macc pounced for his signature and Askey has been reunited with a player who performed very well at the Moss throughout last season.
Askey said: “Danny did very well for us last time he was with the club, but we obviously ended up selling him to Wigan. Hopefully he’ll be able to reproduce what he did previously for us.
“That’s what we need, players who are a level above. It’s not easy to get that, we’re trying to get players in but it’s proving difficult.
“Obviously, teams don’t want to let their best players go. There are players available, but there’s no point bringing in someone who isn’t going to improve us.”
