John Askey is looking for consistency during the stacked fixture list as Macclesfield Town target a play-off position.

After the 1-1 draw with Gateshead – which left Askey impressed with the squad’s performance – the boss admits it’s going to be a test of the team, however he’s hoping to see his side come out all the better off as they chase a potential promotion spot.

He said: “The players should be enjoying the congestion; playing Saturday and Tuesday means they don’t have to train as much!”

Macc are currently chalked in for four games in the next 12 days, which doesn’t leave much time for a breather, however John expects the players to be fully prepared for the challenge.

He added: “We’re in the same boat as all the other teams. We’ve got lads who are really fit, so it should be an advantage for us really. Whoever we play, if we get the ball down and move it well, we’ve got a great chance of winning.”
