Macclesfield Town boss John Askey believes the addition of Scott Flinders now means that the club has two really good goalkeepers’.

Flinders returns to the Moss Rose after an impressive loan spell at the club earlier on in the season.

The gaffer has also explained the difficultly of bringing in players at this time of the year.

Speaking to Silkmen Player HD, he said: “I think we have two really good goalkeepers now, Craig did well after Scott had gone and whilst Scott was with us we hardly lost a game.

“At this time of year, it’s difficult to do so because you need to be able to buy people because otherwise you’re taking other people’s cast offs.”

The gaffer also revealed that it was important to bring in another goalkeeper after Ryan Boot’s loan spell ended and that he would be more than happy if he had depth in other areas.

“Ryan had to go back to Port Vale so it was important to bring in another goalkeepers and we’re looking to bring more people in.

“We’ve got two decent ‘keepers and if we had that depth somewhere else in the park then we’d be more than happy,” he added.

Flinders could be in line to make his first appearance since re-joining the club tonight against Dover Athletic.
