Macclesfield Town boss John Askey has wished Jack Mackreth well after the winger signed for EFL League One side Bury.
The 24-year-old completed a switch to Gigg Lane on New Year’s Day for an undisclosed transfer fee after an impressive run of form for the Silkmen.
Mackreth made his Bury debut in Monday’s 3-1 home defeat to Sheffield United and Askey is hopeful that Mackreth’s move will help him attract other players to the Moss Rose.
John told Silkmen Player HD: “It’s what we’re looking for at the Football Club. We want players to come in, do well for us and then move on to a higher level. Hopefully that will encourage more players to come to us because they know we can help them.
“We obviously wish Jack well and just hope that it doesn’t impact us too much.”
