Macclesfield Town defender George Pilkington says it was an easy decision to extend his stay at the Moss Rose.
The experienced centre-back, who has been virtually ever present since his arrival at the Club in early 2014, put pen-to-paper on a new one-year contract last week and has expressed his delight at staying with the Silkmen.
35-year-old Pilkington has won the ‘Player of the Year’ award in each of his three full seasons at the Moss and will now look to target more success with the Macclesfield.
But he says the ultimate goal is a play-off place.
George told mtfc.co.uk: “I love it here. I love playing for the manager and the fans and I can’t wait to get started again.
“We had a positive season last year and now we have a few more weeks off for me to get myself in to some short of shape and I just can’t wait to get going again.
“Year on year we have progressed here and as a Football Club we know where we want to be and that is in the play-off places. So realistically that is what we’ll be aiming for again next season.”
