Macclesfield Town assistant manager Steve Watson says that he hopes George Pilkington’s injury is not too serious
Defender George Pilkington was substituted for the Silkmen during their match at Bootham Crescent, but again Watson was optimistic.
He said: “Hopefully it’s not too serious and we’ve caught it in time.
“He was feeling his hamstring and had a bit of a back spasm, but we had a bit of a nightmare journey here (to York) today and Pilks was feeling it a bit. Neill Byrne has been outstanding in pre-season though so absolutely no problem there.”
“There’s a lot of lad’s out there who deserve to be in the team, because not many have had a bad pre-season. It gives Neill a chance to stake his claim for Saturday, Kingsley James and Paul Lewis who again were unlucky not to start the season. We’ve got good options for Saturday.”
