New Macclesfield Town full-back Jared Hodgkiss says he is “raring to go” following the confirmation of his move to the Silkmen.
Having started his career with West Bromwich Albion, Hodgkiss has had spells with Forest Green Rovers, Kidderminster Harriers and most recently spent time on loan with Torquay United before joining Macclesfield this summer.
Speaking exclusively to mtfc.co.uk, Hodgkiss said: “I’m happy to have signed and I’m raring to go. I got put in touch with the manager and it all happened really quickly.
“It’s a big club, and the location works great perfectly for me too. John told me ‘be ready for pre-season’, and just give it my all. He must like me to have signed me so it’s a great vote of confidence already.”
Hodgkiss made his Premier League debut some years ago as a substitute for Steve Watson at West Brom, with the pair reuniting now at Macc.
“It’s strange how things work out! I came on for Watto for my Premier League debut. The circle of life, as they say!”
For those who don’t know Hodgkiss, he described himself as “an experienced right-back, get forward when I can and defend when I can, and give my all for the team always.”
Now, it’s all about preparation heading into the season for the new signing. He finished: “The lads weren’t far away from the play-offs last season and got the FA Trophy final too, let’s see if we can go one better this season. For me it’s time to start pounding the roads, get some miles in the legs and get ready for a tough pre-season.”
