Macclesfield Town boss John Askey believes that the visit to Tranmere will take care of itself as the Silkmen prepare to face them twice in seven days.

As well as playing today Micky Mellon’s side travel to the Moss Rose on New Year’s Day but is hoping that everybody will be up the game.

He said: “The Tranmere game will take care of itself, there’ll be a decent crowd and everybody will be up for it which make my job easier then.

“It’s easy playing in games against the likes of Tranmere compared to last week’s FA Trophy game away at Altrincham.

The gaffer revealed that games against lower league opposition are the games that manager’s worry about

Askey explained: “It’s games against Altrincham that make you worry when you’re 1-0 down at half-time and you have to throw some cups about but I should be used to it by now!”
