Six of Grimsby Borough’s players from last season have confirmed they will be playing for the club next season.
Players player of the season and Andy Liddle’s Managers player of the season Scott Drury was the first to confirm that he would be staying at the club. The shot stopper featured in all but three of Borough’s games last season of which he missed due to suspension and won more man of the match awards than any other player.
Second to confirm that he would be staying with the club was brick wall defender Lee Briggs. The defender who missed the beginning of last season due to work commitments in the Falkland Islands. The defender has previously played for Rainworth Miners Welfare, Shirebrook Town and the RAF Senior Representative side. Hard-worker Briggs was also awarded best first team trainer last season.
One of the clubs longer serving player James Petronzio confirmed he would be playing his sixth season at the club have first joined in 2011 and having one season away under the current Borough management at Boston Town.
Danny Grant also committed to another season at the club. The full back come central midfielder scored his first goal for the club against Grimsby Town in July 2012 before having a short time at Cleethorpes before returning to the club.
Former Grimsby Town Youth player Tom Charlesworth also has re-signed for the club. The 21 year old made one appearance for Borough’s Reserves last season and was also on the bench for Borough’s game away at AFC Emley. The midfielder reunites with Nathan Collins who were both together during their time at Grimsby Town. He also made one first team appearance for Grimsby Town in a Conference Premier Fixture against Braintree.
The latest player to have committed their future to the club is fans favourite Jack Debnam. The 2016/17 supporters and committee player of the year also collected the golden boot award for side last year scoring twenty two goals from midfielder. These goals included efforts in both play off fixtures.
