Alfreton Town player Bradley Wood has been hit with a six-year ban from football after being found guilty of breaking betting rules by the FA.

Wood, who left Lincoln City at the end of last season and signed for Alfreton Town, was booked during two of the Imps key FA Cup matches last season against Ipswich Town and Burnley. A number of people who are associated with Mr Wood then placed bets on Mr Wood being booked in those games.

A statement issued by the Football Association this afternoon said: “Bradley Wood will serve a six-year suspension from football and all football activity from March 9, 2018, to 8 March, 2024, after committing 25 breaches of The FA’s Integrity and Betting Rules.”
