Skegness Town have withdrawn from this season’s FA Vase.
The team were due to travel to Stourport Swifts this coming Saturday (5th December), but following discussions with the board, players and committee members, the club have decided it is in the best interests of all involved not to make the trip.
The club add: “We are fully aware of the FA guidance and Government direction regarding the current pandemic, and the fact that we are in a Tier 3 area with some of the highest levels of COVID in the country. Our own league, the NCEL, has voted to remain suspended until 2021 to protect the health and welfare of all involved.
“With this in mind, we felt the correct decision was to refrain from travelling to a Tier 2 area in order to fulfil this fixture. This decision has not been taken lightly, but, in view of the circumstances, we feel it is the only option.
“We therefore cede the game to Stourport and wish them the very best of luck for the remainder of the competition. We would like to thank the FA and Stourport Swifts for their understanding.”
Stourport Swifts will therefore face Grimsby Borough in the competition this Saturday.
