Ahead of the upcoming 2017/18 Evo-Stik Division One North campaign, Skelmersdale United have signed experienced midfielder Danny Ventre to the club.
Danny becomes the first foundation of the pre-season rebuild at the club and moves from Northern Premier League side Warrington Town. The 31-year-old Liverpool born midfielder made the step up from U19s to senior level at Chester City back in 2005 before moving on to Accrington Stanley where he spent time at Southport on loan.
His big break came in 2007 with a move to Irish side Sligo Rovers, scoring four goals in 174 League of Ireland appearances. He also gained European experience with seven outings in the Europa League across four seasons from 2009-2014.
He moved on to Derry City before a short spell at AFC Telford in 2015 which led to a summer transfer to Warrington Town. He also brings coaching experience to United having completed his UEFA B license in May 2015 and is a foundation coach at Blackpool FC.
United manager Alan Rogers showed his delight at the signing – “Danny was a priority for me this summer. A very good player who has played at a high level and will demand from players around him. A true leader and a winner.”
