Solihull Moors have signed 25-year-old central defender Alex Gudger from Brackley Town.
He has been an ever-present with the Saints in his two-year stint at St James Park and was also a member of the squad that came so close to gaining promotion to the National League last season, losing away at Harrogate Town in the play-off final. A week later he played at Wembley in the nailbiting Buildbase FA Trophy win over Bromley.
Gudger progressed through the youth ranks at Nuneaton Town as they won promotion the Conference but it was at Rugby Town that he made his mark. He went on to play 111 times for them, collecting the Player of the Season award in his first season and being made club captain for the 2013/14 season.
He signed for Worcester City in the summer 2015 and onto Brackley for the 2016-17 season. At City he played 46 games, winning the Sponsors’ Player of the Year award.
Gudger also has the distinction of having been selected for Jamey Vardy’s last V7 Football Academy. He becomes Tim Flowers’ first signing since his appointment last week.
