FA Vase winners South Shields have been handed a double boost with the news that goalkeeper Liam Connell and midfielder Julio Arca have signed new two-year deals with the club.
Both players played major roles in a historic season for the South Tyneside club, as they ended the campaign with four trophies.
Plans are well underway for the debut season in the Evo-Stik NPL First Division North and a number of players have committed their futures to the club.
The Mariners suffered a blow earlier in the week as striker David Foley left the club to join Vanarama National League North club Spennymoor Town.
Within twenty four hours the club brought in Consett striker Luke Sullivan as they look to challenge for a third promotion in a row during this coming season.
But it is the news that Arca and Connell have penned new deals that will delight the Mariners faithful.
Former Sunderland and Middlesbrough midfielder Arca joined the club in 2015, after a spell playing Sunday League football with Sunderland-based The Willow Pond.
He has played a key role in the Mariners progression from step six to step four of the non-league pyramid and captained them to them FA Vase Final triumph over Cleethorpes Town.
Keeper Connell joined the club at the start of last season from Ebac Northern League rivals Dunston UTS, where he also won the FA Vase with a 2-0 win over West Auckland Town in 2012.
