South Shields have announced the signing of striker Sefton Gonzales.
Gonzales – who was part of the Colne side which eliminated Shields from the Emirates FA Cup earlier this season – is available to make his debut in the New Year’s Day clash with Scarborough Athletic at Mariners Park.
The 27-year-old is an established player at this level and higher, having played for the likes of Chorley, Stockport County, Clitheroe, Droylsden and FC United previously. He is eager to hit the ground running with the Mariners.
Gonzales said: “I’m very excited to be here. This is a club with a very professional outlook and I’m really looking forward to getting started.
“It’s a club that’s very much on the rise with a great fanbase and arguably the best facilities in the league, so this is a very exciting move for me. Hopefully I can help the club win promotion this season.”
