Whitby Town have signed experienced South Shields goalkeeper Jack Norton for a second spell.
The former Darlington stopper comes with vast experience, having appeared for a number of clubs across non-league, including the Blues back in 2006/07. His signing means an end to Ryan Whitley’s loan spell at the Turnbull Ground, and the young stopper will return to York City to continue his development.
Blues boss Chris Hardy saw the chance to bring in Norton as a no-brainer, with the chance of replacing Shane Bland in the long run in mind.
“When I heard of Jack’s interest in coming to Whitby, it proved to be too good an opportunity to turn down,” Hardy told whitby-town.com. “He comes with a wealth of experience and it gives me a possible solution to the long-term replacement of Shane Bland, which unfortunately is a position that isn’t an option with Ryan [Whitley].
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Ryan for his efforts over the last couple of months, he’s been a real pleasure to work with.”
