South Shields striker Gavin Cogdon is set to miss at least four weeks of action with a hamstring injury.
Cogdon suffered a hamstring strain during the first half of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup tie with Stockport County at Mariners Park. The early prognosis is that he will be out for a minimum of four weeks.
A number of Shields players are currently nursing injuries. Carl Finnigan suffered a rib injury in the first half against Stockport, and is a doubt for Saturday’s match against Warrington Town.
Finnigan has a badly bruised rib following a collision with Stockport goalkeeper Ben Hinchliffe towards the end of the first half. Physio Andrew Morris is to assess how the injury settles in the coming days ahead of the trip to Warrington.
Josh Gillies, meanwhile, missed out against Stockport after sustaining an ankle injury in training last Thursday. The injury has settled well since then, and there are hopes that he could be available against Warrington.
Another player carrying an injury at present is Ben Harmison. He suffered an ankle injury during the half-time warm-up at Stalybridge Celtic earlier this month, but he is progressing well with his rehabilitation.
