Lee Picton has said that South Shields are targeting the beginning of the 2021/22 season for their new main stand to be in use.
Following an extremely successful tenure as joint-manager with Graham Fenton, Picton was announced in November as moving into the role as chief executive.
He has said as part of an update on club matters at the Northern Premier Division outfit: “We are cautiously optimistic that all the enabling conditions for initiating the construction of this project will be in place in the near future, and that the stand is to be operational in time for the beginning on the 2021/22 competitive season. Although we haven’t yet submitted any plans regarding the internal fit-out of the new main stand, our intention is to incorporate additional facilities at some point that would potentially include: new main bar, toilet facilities, club shop, kitchen, food kiosks, board room, media/office facilities, cellar
“The new stand will also accommodate 15 glass fronted commercial/sponsor boxes that will be housed behind the top row of seats, giving the occupants an incredible view of the pitch. In addition, there will also be a covered TV gantry situated above the roof of the stand so that all games can be filmed from the optimum vantage point.”
